The idea for MUDDEEZ was conceived one Spring afternoon when our Founder, Jim, was watching his son’s little league game.  On this particular day, a brief rain shower delayed play for about fifteen minutes.  When the game started up again, Jim noticed how huge a role “mud management” played not just in his son’s game, but also on every field around.  He couldn't believe how funny it was watching the lengths coaches and kids were going to keep their shoes clean during the game!

Funnier yet, was the scene in the parking lot following the game.  Everywhere you looked, parents were trying to figure out what to do with the mud covered cleats, while yelling at their kids not to track mud in the car. Every parent dreaded the hellacious clean-up job needed before they would be ready to wear again.

That’s when the light bulb went off….If he could come up with a "mud repellent"  that was simple, clean, easy-to-apply, and really worked...there would be no shortage of people who would want to use it.  

So, he enlisted the efforts of an expert in the area of chemical compounds  and a product development expert. Over the course of the next several months, this team experimented with different mixes of oils, silicates, fragrances, polymers and other “concoctions” trying to determine the optimum mix for both effectiveness and longevity ( e.g. a compound that won't rub off the bottom of the shoe too quickly).

After many hours of lab time, a lot of near misses, along with some total duds, they arrived at the winning formula!  A simple, but effective formulation that we believe will change the way athletes everywhere (and their parents) prepare for a game!
